Bass action picking up. The stump areas around the lake are producing bass, mostly smallmouth, on white MiniGitzits, plastic worms, and crickets. Hamilton Branch and the Prattville jetties have been good for bank fishers using nightcrawlers with Power Bait in the early morning. At the dam anchovy tails and whit MiniGitzits can get king salmon. Berryessa Lake Information

Anglers are landing good numbers of bass, trout, catfish, and crappies. Look for bass, on and off the beds, with plastics, jigs, reaction baits, and live minnows. Though no big fish were reported, fish to 4 pounds are common. Trout are being taken by shore anglers using live minnows below a bobber, and trollers are catching limits with Needlefish, Magic Bullet Lures, Goldeneyes, and crawlers behind a flasher in the top 20 feet. Night fishermen are taking crappies out of Capell Cove with live minnows under a lantern and catfish are coming in for anglers soaking crawlers, hot dogs, or chicken livers. Trolling continued strong between the dam and the island using Krocodiles and Mistic Lures trolled near the surface. Still fishing was good at Alder Point on Power Bait. Some small bass were caught on plastics and reaction baits. Catfish are being caught on mackerel, and chicken livers in the shallows of Half Moon Bay. New Melones Lake Information

Kokanee are taking most of the attention for trollers, with trout slowing. The top bet is the spillway to dam path, with fish showing from 25-40 feet down. Top lures have been Syclops spoons, Flatfish, Uncle Larry's spinners and bugs. Pink is the top color. A lake record spotted bass was weighed in by an angler fishing a plastic worm in 20 feet of water. The bass have moved off the beds and are "post-spawn" in deeper water.
